Please do not wedge, prop, brace, hold or otherwise obstruct the elevator doors from closing. This will cause the door motor to burn out and temporarily reduce the number of elevators servicing the building.

Elevator Malfunction Procedures. Each elevator is equipped with a telephone which rings directly to the DataWatch Systems Monitoring Center. Press the button with the phone symbol to contact the Monitoring Center in the event of an elevator malfunction. Please indicate the building address and elevator cab number (this information is displayed on a sign on the elevator panel). The appropriate emergency response personnel will be contacted immediately. The Datawatch Monitoring Center dispatcher will stay on the line with you until the elevator company arrives to assist you in evacuating the cab.

Although an elevator entrapment is inconvenient, you are in no danger as long as you remain in the cab. Never try to pry the elevator doors open to get out. It is extremely dangerous since the cab may not be properly aligned with the floor. Wait for a qualified elevator mechanic or fireman to assist you.

Never use an elevator in the event of a fire. If you are traveling in an elevator when an alarm sounds, the elevators will automatically go to the first floor and open their doors. This occurs one cab at a time. Please be patient.
